UNS Freshman Leadership Development Seminar Resources for UNCG Faculty and Staff.
Responsible for delivering a UNS course?
The Office of Leadership and Service-Learning offers the UNS Freshman Leadership Development Module, a one-hour workshop and outdoor experiential leadership development experience for freshmen enrolled in UNS 101, UNS 102, or UNS 105.
As part of the UNS course, instructors may have their students participate in an introduction to Leadership at UNCG, leadership Workshop Module.
Program Details
During a UNS class, Office of Leadership and Service-Learning student facilitators co-present a module developed to educate students to begin to think about themselves as leaders. The module allows the students to become aware of their leadership styles and tendencies and to learn how to use their gifts most effectively. Student facilitators will work with the instructor to ensure that students complete the DISC profile and personal Passion Assessment. Student facilitators will provide concrete examples and experiences that can maximize the student's UNCG leadership development.
In conjunction with the in-class module, UNS instructors are strongly encouraged to follow-up with the 3 hour TeamQUESt segment at Piney Lake.
TeamQUESt Experiential Education
Once students have been introduced to leadership styles and personal passions, they will have the opportunity to practice their new knowledge at the UNCG TeamQUESt experiential campus. The experience is free of charge to instructors who request the Leadership Module through the Office of Leadership and Service-Learning. Students afforded the opportunity to participate in TeamQUESt, will also begin to recognize group differences. For more information on UNCG TeamQUESt visit http://campusrec.uncg.edu/teamquest/

How Do I Request the Freshman Leadership Development Seminar for my Students?
Instructors may request the Freshman Leadership Development Seminar by contacting OLSL by email at lead@uncg.edu or at 336-256-0538. Instructors that request a Leadership Facilitator to deliver the module will be receive the leadership profile inventory for each student in the class.
Facilitators will work with the instructor to ensure that students complete the DISC profile and the personal passion assessment. Our facilitators will provide concrete examples and experiences that can maximize the students' UNCG leadership development experience.

A questionnaire with leads a person through assessment of people passion, issue passion, and group passion. Suggestions on using information to join UNCG or community organizations is included.

The Spartan Leadership Assessment will help you learn more about your preferred leadership style. Some leaders like to control the pace and direction of work. Some of these leaders focus on the task-at-hand while others will prioritize relationships. Other leaders are more likely to analyze, plan, or seek input from others before they engage in a project.
