Americorps Opportunities for Students

Americorps VISTA
NC Campus Compact is currently in the recruitment phase for 30 Americorps VISTA positions to serve on our member campuses. This is an excellent opportunity for graduating Seniors or Graduate Students. These one-year positions are full-time and include a monthly stipend and often provide assistance with meals and housing. For more information, please read brochure (PDF 136 KB). Lauren Smalley, UNCG's NC Campus Compact Americorps VISTA, in the Office of Leadership and Service-Learning is available to meet one-on-one to help students explore Americorps or other "year of service" type programs.

NC-ACTS! AmeriCorps Scholarship Program
Students who serve/teach may be able to benefit from the NC-ACTS! AmeriCorps scholarship program! NC-ACTS offers a unique advantage to students completing unpaid internships which serve the community. Please take a few minutes to look over the attached overview of the AmeriCorps NC-ACTS! program information sheet (DOC 110 KB) and application (DOC 53 KB) which rewards students for community service with $1,000 education awards.

Students who enroll in the program complete 300 hours of service and two reflection sessions during the semester to receive the award, which may be applied to current tuition or used to pay off qualified student loans. Students who are completing unpaid internships in NC-ACTS areas (Human Needs, Education*, and Volunteer Recruitment) may count these hours towards the program.

*NC-ACTS! Education placements must address special needs or at risk populations (special ed, ESL, any work at a title I school, etc.)
