Semester of Service

Semester of Service is a semester-long program that allows students to develop leadership skills through service-learning by committing 3-5 hours a week to one of the volunteer partner sites. Each student attends coaching hours that can be counted toward the total volunteer hours and completes a total of four reflection topics.
The volunteer sites are committed to providing the best hands-on experiential learning for students and the community.

YMCA Young Achievers Program

This program follows the philosophy of the YMCA by providing development rich and growth-oriented programs. The Young Achievers program focuses around young Greensboro community members. As a Semester of Service student you will coach and help the young achievers envision a more positive future. SOS students provide mentorship on community building, leadership and making the transition into college.

The YMCA program is currently at capacity.  We will update you through our e-mail listserve.  (Not on the listserve? Sign up to get our e-mails!)

Greensboro Children’s Museum

The Museum features a variety of exhibits that stimulate creative and rich play experiences. As a Semester of Service student you will facilitate interactive play, touch and exploration exhibits for children 0-10 years old. The Children’s Museum offers group volunteer sessions or more specific intern positions.

Students will work with musicians through international marketing and communication. Help fundraise and manage new avenues such as Facebook to remain connected with EMF supporters.
