NCCC Student Conference

Wednesday, September 23, 2009
By alkeith

Every Fall, NC Campus Compact hosts a conference designed to provide student leaders with the opportunity to network and to gain the knowledge, skills, and tools to create or expand their own campus civic engagement efforts. This annual conference brings students together from across NC and neighboring states to network, share, and learn
about best practices and unique, innovative ideas in civic engagement. Sessions focus on such topics as community service, leadership, service-learning, advocacy, and activism. This year, the conference will begin on Friday night with a service project, a Blanket Drive. Conference participants will gather in the University Center between 5 and 9 p.m. on November 6. Students will also participate in a local Canned Food Drive, culminating that day. The Saturday program includes workshops, presentations, and roundtables.

Students who apply through OLSL are eligible to attend the conference free of charge. OLSL will be covering registration, housing, and travel costs of up to 13 UNCG students; preference will be given to students who present.

Registration Deadline (to OLSL): October 1, 2009
Proposal Deadline: October 9, 2009
Approximate Cost: $130 (excluding transportation)

For more information contact Joe Frey at jjfrey@uncg.edu.
